Pikmin 4 Caves

Updated · 1 min read

Caves are multi-floor expeditions packed with puzzles, creatures, treasure, and sometimes new Pikmin types.

What Nintendo tells you

  • Strategize through multiple floors of puzzles and critters.
  • Surface day-time pressure eases underground because time works differently — no need to rush.
  • Autosave triggers on enter and exit.
  • Bring the squad the Hint recommends (X on the take-out screen) the first time you visit an unfamiliar cave.
  • Exit with newly met Pikmin if you want them permanently available; then hunt their Onion to grow numbers.

Practical habits (still sourced)

  • Use Rewind Time if a floor wipe goes badly (Fresh Recruits).
  • Match types to hazards (Pikmin types).
  • Collect raw materials underground for Lab builds (Fresh Recruits).
  • We do not list every cave name or boss here — those spoilers are widely covered on large wikis; verify against your in-game map.

FAQ

Do I have to rush in caves?

Nintendo’s store page says time seems to work differently in caves, so there’s no need to rush while exploring multiple floors of puzzles and critters.

Does entering a cave save the game?

Yes. Fresh Recruits lists automatic saves when you enter and exit a cave (and at other checkpoints).

Can I find new Pikmin types underground?

Fresh Recruits: sometimes you befriend new types in caves; they join your adventure if you leave the cave with them. Growing more still requires a matching Onion.
